  • 100 - 1,000 mcg

Major Sources (75 mcg to 4 mcg per serving)

  • Peanuts, filberts, almonds, peanut butter, walnuts, soy protein isolate, egg, cashews, lowfat yogurt, mackerel, haddock, sweet potato, Swiss chard, salmon, artichoke, nonfat milk, tomato sauce, whole milk, macadamia nuts. Synthesized by intestinal bacteria.

Non-Therapeutic Importance

  • Essential component of enzymes; involved in synthesis and breakdown of fatty acids and amino acids through aiding the addition and removal of carbon dioxide to or from active compounds, and the removal of NH2 from amino acids.
